Berry smoothie

A very berry smoothie is my very favourite breakfast! This quick and easy recipe contains little milk, a whole lot of delicious fruit and lots of goodness to kick start your day – better yet is takes about two minutes to make and fills you up till lunch (well me anyway). Add a sprinkle of muesli on top, with more yoghurt and turn it into a smoothie bowl. Besides who doesn’t love a pretty pink brekkie?

Ingredients

  • handful of frozen/fresh berries
  • 1/2 banana, chopped
  • 4 spoons of greek yoghurt
  • 1/2 cup light or soy milk
  • 2 tsp honey
  • 1 tsp chia seeds
  • sprinkle of cinnamon

Serves 1

Method

Add all of the ingredients in a blender and blitz until smooth. Top with fruit and enjoy your beautiful day!

Healthy fact

Chia seeds are a rich source of Vitamin B, iron, magnesium, phosphorus and zinc. One tablespoon of chia seeds has more calcium than a glass of milk, more Omega-3 than Salmon, and more antioxidants than blueberries. Wow, who knew a tiny species of the mint plant could be so good for you and taste delicious too. I use chia seeds in all of my smoothies and also a lot of my puddings – it’s the perfect little “superfood”!

Happy drinking, love Jem x
